This is a snowy and cold view of superb Quebec City. We can see the Château Frontenac facing the Saint Lawrence River. I took this shot from an unknown park in town. In fact, the Terrasse Pierre Dugua de Mons is one of the most beautiful viewpoint in town and is also one of the loneliest spot.

Avant de passer à l'été, voici une vue froide et enneigée de Québec. On peut voir ici le Château Frontenac faisant face au Fleuve St-Laurent. Cette photo a été prise à un endroit sous-estimé. En fait, la Terrasse Pierre Dugua de Mons est l'un des plus beau point de vue en ville et aussi, l'un des plus tranquille.

I went to Baie-St-Paul (about an hour drive from Quebec) at the end of march for a family moment. My father and I went out to do some sunrise shots and I could not resist going around the Accalmie. The shooting went quite well, but my feet did not go that well. I forgot my boots at home and only had my Crocs out in the snow for about two hours. Well, even if my toes were like Popsicles, I think it was well worth the pain!

This is the first time I use new post processing techniques learned in the more than excellent New Zealand tutorial by Trey Ratcliff of www.stuckincustoms.com .

Je suis allé à Baie-St-Paul (à environ une heure de Québec) à la fin du mois de mars. Mon père et moi sommes sortis pour prendre des photos de lever de soleil et je n'ai pu résister à me rendre à l'Accalmie. La séance photo a très bien été, mais mes pieds ne peuvent en dire autant. Comme j'ai oublié mes bottes à Québec, j'ai dû me tourner vers mes Crocs (un peu trop bien aérés). Même si mes orteils ressemblaient à des Popsicles, les photos résultantes en valaient la peine!

This is the magnificent St-Lawrence river by night. Actually, the sunset is right behind me (yes, I took many shots of it)! The idea of taking a photo of the tower is from my girlfriend who wanted to have a photo of it. I must say, it was a great idea!

Voici le superbe fleuve St-Laurent vu de nuit sur le Quai des Cageux. Au moment de la photo, le soleil se couchait juste derrière moi (et oui, je l'ai aussi pris en photo)! L'idée de la photo de la tour vient de ma blonde qui a eu le flair de la proposer. Quelle excellente idée!

Well, as you may have seen, the "from above" part did not cost me a lot of money! Yep, this was a Lego exposition. A dude named Gilles Maheux created a giant Lego town called Ludovica Miniland. All of its buildings come from various cities around the world. It goes from the Capitol, to the Eiffel Tower, to the Pyramids. Gilles travels from site to site with this giant town so that visitors can enjoy it. A must for the kids, young daddies like me and photography enthusiasts!

OK, vous avez probablement déjà remarqué que je ne me suis pas payé d'hélicoptère pour prendre cette photo du Capitole. Eh oui, ce que vous voyez est la ville Ludovica Miniland, faite entièrement en Lego. Les différents bâtiments de la ville sont en fait des répliques provenant de villes à travers le monde. Ça va du Capitole, à la Tour Eiffel aux Pyramides. Le créateur de la ville, Gilles Maheux voyage de place en place pour montrer sa ville géante aux visiteurs. Une formule gagnante pour les enfants, les jeunes papas comme moi et les tripeux de photo!

Of course, this is not "The Cabin in the Wood" like in the movie, otherwise, we would all be dead. I took this photo on a small dam in the Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie. I must say that it is one of the nicest national park near Quebec City.

Voici une seconde photo de notre journée au Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie. Nous voyons ici une des deux cabanes de chaque bout du barrage. Si vous n'êtes jamais allé à ce parc, je vous le recommande.

This is an unusual view of the Château Frontenac in Quebec City. Almost Halloweenesque! Count Dracula could very well live in it. What do you think?

Voici un angle plutôt inhabituel pour le Château Frontenac, situé au coeur de Québec. L'ambiance est presque Halloweenesque! Le compte Dracula pourrait probablement vivre dans cette demeure.

Here is the melting Bras-du Nord river, near Saint-Raymond. Luckily, two of my friends followed me and woke up at 5h00 "just to take photos". Thanks to Jean-Sébastien and Isabelle which made this moment much more fun than when I am alone. While the sun was rising up, a mouse jumped right in the water. I hope for it that there was a tunnel somewhere under the snow.

Voici la rivière Bras-du-Nord, tout près de Saint-Raymond, qui commence à dégeler. Deux de mes amis ont bien voulu m'accompagner dans ma folie de me lever à 5h00 du matin "juste pour prendre des photos". Merci à Jean-Sébastien et Isabelle, c'était bien plus agréable que lorsque je suis seul. Durant l'attente du lever de soleil, nous avons eu la surprise de voir une souris se lancer volontairement à l'eau pour aller rejoindre un tunnel sous la neige. Enfin, j'espère qu'il y avait un tunnel.

Here is the beautiful Palais Montcalm right in Old Quebec City. As a part of Quebecadabra, the Palais Montcalm was illuminated. There was a lot of fun to have in the front stairway as it reacted to the footsteps of people passing by; just like in Big with Tom Hanks.

Voici le Palais Montcalm situé à Place d'Youville dans le Vieux-Québec. Le Palais a eu droit à sont lot de décorations durant Québecadabra. Les gens se sont beaucoup amusés dans l'escalier qui réagissait à leur pas ; comme dans Big avec Tom Hanks.

We are back in 2006 and this was the first time I ever used a digital reflex camera (DSLR). I went to Paris with my girlfriend to visit the country and my sister. I originally brought my Fuji Finepix F30 compact, but I dropped it and it broke. I was really sad because it was quite a quality camera for me at the time. My sister and her former boyfriend had a brand new Canon Rebel XT and they let me use it. This is really where it all started. I was sooo impressed. Back in Canada, I bought a Canon Rebel XTi and started learning about photography and post processing. This specific photo was taken in Étretat in High-Normandy. This is a small village surrounded by astonishing landscapes.

Nous sommes en 2006 et c'est la première fois que j'utilise un appareil réflexe numérique (DSLR). Je suis allé à Paris avec ma copine pour visiter le pays et ma soeur. J'avais initialement apporté mon appareil photo compact Fuji Finepix F30 (tout un appareil pour moi à l'époque), mais je l'ai échappé et il a cassé. J'était tellement triste. Ma soeur et son ancien copain avaient un Canon Rebel XT tout neuf et ils m'ont laissé l'utiliser. C'est à ce moment que tout a commencé. De retour au canada, j'ai acheté mon premier DSLR, un Canon Rebel XTi, et j'ai commencé à apprendre la photo et le traitement d'image. Cette photo a été prise à Étretat en Haute Normandie. C'est un petit village entouré de paysages à couper le souffle.
