This is a snowy and cold view of superb Quebec City. We can see the Château Frontenac facing the Saint Lawrence River. I took this shot from an unknown park in town. In fact, the Terrasse Pierre Dugua de Mons is one of the most beautiful viewpoint in town and is also one of the loneliest spot. Avant de passer à l'été, voici une vue froide et enneigée de Québec. On peut voir ici le Château Frontenac faisant face au Fleuve St-Laurent. Cette photo a été prise à un endroit sous-estimé. Well, as you may have seen, the "from above" part did not cost me a lot of money! Yep, this was a Lego exposition. A dude named Gilles Maheux created a giant Lego town called Ludovica Miniland. All of its buildings come from various cities around the world. It goes from the Capitol, to the Eiffel Tower, to the Pyramids. Gilles travels from site to site with this giant town so that visitors can enjoy it. A must for the kids, young daddies like me and photography enthusiasts! OK, vous avez probablement déjà remarqué que je ne me suis pas payé d'hélicoptère pour prendre cette photo du Capitole. Eh oui, ce que vous voyez est la ville Ludovica Miniland, faite entièrement en Lego. Les différents bâtiments de la ville sont en fait des répliques provenant de villes à travers le monde. Ça va du Capitole, à la Tour Eiffel aux Pyramides. Le créateur de la ville, Gilles Maheux voyage de place en place pour montrer sa ville géante aux visiteurs. Une formule gagnante pour les enfants, les jeunes papas comme moi et les tripeux de photo! Here is the beautiful Palais Montcalm right in Old Quebec City. As a part of Quebecadabra, the Palais Montcalm was illuminated. There was a lot of fun to have in the front stairway as it reacted to the footsteps of people passing by; just like in Big with Tom Hanks. Voici le Palais Montcalm situé à Place d'Youville dans le Vieux-Québec. Le Palais a eu droit à sont lot de décorations durant Québecadabra. Les gens se sont beaucoup amusés dans l'escalier qui réagissait à leur pas ; comme dans Big avec Tom Hanks.
Here is a second shot of Erik and Katherine. I used this photo as a pretext to experiment with my new Nik Software suite. After watching their superb lessons on YouTube, I gave it a shot to adjust the tone and luminosity of the photo. I used Dfine to get rid of the noise in the background. After that, I used Viveza to selectively adjust the luminosity and contrast. This resulted in a darker background and a brighter couple directing the eye to what matters. Then, I used Color Efex to get this final sepia-like overall tone. Finally, I used Sharpener to add structure to the finished photo. I highly recommend this great software suite! Voici une seconde photo d'Érik et Katherine. J'ai utilisé cette photo comme un prétexte pour expérimenter avec ma nouvelle suite de logiciels de Nik Software. Après avoir écouté leurs superbes tutoriels sur YouTube, je me suis lancé pour ajuster la luminosité et tonalité de la photo originale. J'ai débuté avec Dfine pour éliminer le bruit en arrière-plan. Ensuite, j'ai utilisé Viveza afin d'ajuster sélectivement la luminosité et le contraste. Le résultat est un arrière-plan foncé et des mariés plus clairs, ce qui permet d'attirer l'oeil là où c'est important. Puis, j'ai utilisé Color Efex pour obtenir la tonalité que vous voyez. Finalement, Sharpener m'a permis d'ajouter juste ce qu'il faut de structure à la photo finale. Je recommande vraiment cette suite de logiciels! Je dois mentionner que la photo n'aurait pas pu être aussi réussie sans de beaux sujets!
This is another shot I took at the Aquarium du Québec... in Quebec City for Quebecadabra. I'm guessing this was the part representing the aquarium itself! OK, I admit the the title is a little weird! This shot was taken at the Aquarium du Québec by night as a part of Quebecadabra festival. This is a special moment where there are lots of projections around Quebec City and it's a playground for photographers! What you see here is a reproduction of the Château Frontenac and some of Old Quebec City buildings. Je l'avoue, le titre est bizarre. J'ai pris cette photo durant le festival Quebecadabra à l'Aquarium du Québec. C'est un moment spécial durant l'hiver où il y a plusieurs projections lumineuses partout en ville. Bref, c'est un vrai terrain de jeu pou faire de la photo! Vous aurez reconnu le Château Frontenac sur le haut de la colline. This was shot at the wedding of Erik and Katherine at the Manoir Montmorency near Quebec CIty. It was my first attempt at wedding photography. During that day (and the days before and after), I understood how much work there is in preparing, shooting and post processing wedding photos. You know what? Even if it was hard, a bit stressful and painful for my legs, I would do it again tomorrow! Cette photo a été prise au mariage d'Erik et Katherine au Manoir Montmorency. Ce fut ma première tentative de photos de mariage. Pendant la journée (ainsi que les journées avant et après), j'ai compris combien ça pouvait être demandant de préparer, prendre les photos et les travailler. Mais savez-vous quoi? Malgré que ce fut difficile, un peu stressant et que mes pauvres jambes m'en ont voulu, je recommencerais demain sans hésitation!
I was walking though Quebec City to take advantage of a light festival called Quebecadabra. I did this shot just after they stopped lights projections on Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church. I was lucky enough to get a good shot just before some stupid guy parked its car just before the church. The resulting photo is quite spectacular with the dramatic sky and the big moon. Share if you like it! Je marchais dans la ville de Québec afin de prendre des clichés du festival des lumières Quebecadabra. J'ai pris cette photo juste après la fin des projections lumineuses sur Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. J'ai été juste assez chanceux, car 5 minutes après, un imbécile est venu stationner son automobile juste devant l'église. La photo est, au final, assez spectaculaire avec la grosse lune entourée d'un ciel plutôt dramatique. Partagez si vous appréciez!
